Reporting Requirements for Illinois Non-Profits
WHAT ARE THE LEGAL FILING REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-PROFITS IN ILLINOIS?

In Illinois, all non-profit organizations must register with the Illinois Attorney General. This requirement includes any charity and any professional fundraising organization that is based in Illinois. All non-profits must all submit an annual report to the Illinois Attorney General. If you plan on hosting any gaming events such as bingo, raffles, or pull tabs at fundraising events, your non-profit will need a special license. Contact the Illinois Department of Revenue to apply for the license. There is a fee associated with the license.

Your county, city, or township may also have reporting requirements for your non-profit. Many counties and cities require that all businesses register with them. Additionally, if you are hosting bingo, raffles, or pull-tabs in order to raise money, you may also need to register with the city and county.
